Our May monthly conference call was on Wednesday, May 8th. It featured Joanne Carter, Executive Director of RESULTS, Inc. and Ken Patterson, Global Grassroots Manager for RESULTS. The mission of RESULTS is to create the public and political will to end poverty by empowering individuals to exercise their personal and political power for change.

As a board member of RESULTS, I am very proud of the amazing work they do in helping to create the political will to end the worst ravages of hunger and poverty throughout the world. RESULTS just completed work to get Representatives to sign on to letters supporting robust funding for the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB, and Malaria (101 signers); Maternal & Child Health & Nutrition (63 signers); tuberculosis (30 signers); and education for all children (28 signers). These letters have great influence on decisions regarding how much is invested in the poorest people in the world.
The RESULTS International Conference will be July 20–23 in Washington, DC. I will be giving a day-long seminar called The New Activism: Combining Spirit and Action on the first day of the conference. I see our participation in the RESULTS Conference as a next step in our Sister Giant conversation about Americans rising up as a genuine moral force on the planet. The more we learn about the scourge of poverty and how we can make a difference, the more empowered we are in our role as citizens.
I hope you will join me in Washington D.C. for this amazing event and for the Sister Giant monthly call on Wednesday, May 8. I look forward to introducing you to my wonderful colleagues at RESULTS, and to the magnificent work they are doing to change the world.
