Life-long resident of Clark County, WA in the heart of the 3rd Congressional District of WA State. Raised two daughters, helping to raise two granddaughters while my oldest child earns a Civil Engineering degree from PSU. In 2011 I had a heart attack. It woke me up in ways I can’t even describe. It made me take a long, hard look at the future my children and grandchildren were facing. For the most part, I didn’t like what I saw.
I’ve been a political junkie since I watched the Watergate hearings live on tv when I was a young teenager. I’ve spent two decades urging every person I meet to become a registered voter or to help others become registered voters. I love my community and my country, with a deep and abiding passion. I know that sounds corny, but it’s true.
I offer the people at the 4th of July events I attend every year a $20 bill if any of them can recite the Preamble to the Constitution from memory – to date, no one has won that $20 and that saddens me greatly.
What I want more than anything is for the people who I care about to have a decent life – and I want that for all the families here in SW Washington State, too. I care about the water and air and land, because I want my grandchildren’s grandchildren to be able to enjoy the wonders of our beautiful region just as I and my kids do today.
To that end, I want to become the next Congresswoman in Washington State’s 3rd District – because I know that I can help the rest of the people of the 3rd District rise up to meet the challenges of the coming years with a reverence for our natural resources and an eye towards sustainable, decent paying jobs for our families and well-funded educational opportunities for our children.
America used to be great for a reason, we did great things. We can again. Believe with me and together, we can do great things!
