Marilyn Rainwater, Candidate — State House of Representatives, Oklahoma
Marilyn Rainwater grew up in rural Seminole County, Oklahoma. She was the first one in her family to obtain a college degree, based on an academic scholarship, and after college she became a social worker for the Oklahoma Department of Human Services. She spent 16 years there as a supervisor in the Child Welfare Division, and for her entire adult life has been on the front lines in the effort to help children.
Marilyn is running for the State House of Representatives in Oklahoma. She chose to enter politics mainly because she believes children, and women as well, do not have a voice at the Oklahoma Capitol.
Marilyn is now running for the State House of Representatives. She chose to enter politics mainly because she believes children, and women as well, do not have a voice at the Oklahoma Capitol. Her story is an inspiration to anyone who sees an America plagued by child abuse deaths, child poverty, high school drop-out rates, residents without medical insurance, and a high incarceration rate – and feels moved to help. Gutsy women like Marilyn Rainwater help to improve the world around them, and she will inspire all of us– three days after the election – with both her political story and her passionate personality.
