Pat Murphy has a proven track record of standing up for progressive causes. As a State Representative, Pat fought to raise Iowa’s minimum wage, raise teacher pay, expand preschool and support Iowa’s alternative energy industry. As House Speaker, Pat pushed to expand civil rights, blocking efforts to reverse gay marriage and protecting a woman’s right to choose.
The ninth of ten children, Pat was raised to work hard, treat people with respect and to stand up for what you believe. He’s worked across the aisle to do what’s right for Iowa’s families, and stood up to the right wing when they threatened our future. He’ll do the same in Congress.
Pat lives in Dubuque with his wife of 34 years, Teri. They have four children and nine grandchildren.
