Linda Killian is the founder and executive director of Independent Americans United, created to address the polarization and dysfunction of our political system by promoting political change through electoral reform.

She also writes for The Daily Beast, The Atlantic and Politico and has been a senior scholar at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars. Her latest book is “THE SWING VOTE: The Untapped Power of Independents” which examines the polarization and dysfunction of our political system from the perspective of Independent voters and describes their intense disappointment and frustration with American politics. In “THE SWING VOTE” she offers solutions for fixing our broken political system and ways for voters to make their voices heard.
She is a frequent lecturer on politics and public affairs, has written for many national news organizations, and appeared on MSNBC, CNN, FOX News, The NewsHour on PBS and C-SPAN as well as National Public Radio public affairs shows across the country. Her previous book was “The Freshmen: What Happened to the Republican Revolution?”
She is the creator and former director of the Boston University Washington Center and a former Boston University professor of journalism. She was the senior editor of National Public Radio’s “All Things Considered” and has a master’s degree in public administration from Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government.
